3D Golden Treasure Chest Asset for Game Development
Overview
This project involved the creation of a detailed 3D treasure chest asset designed for use in a video game. The objective was to develop a visually appealing and high-impact interactive object that enhances gameplay experience and supports reward-based mechanics.
Concept & Direction
The treasure chest was designed as a classic in-game reward object, symbolizing value, discovery, and progression. The direction focused on creating a strong visual identity through rich materials, ornamental details, and a sense of mystery and anticipation.
The asset was intended to immediately communicate “valuable reward” to the player through silhouette, color contrast, and material finish.
Design & Development Process
The development process included modeling, detailing, and optimization for real-time use. Key focus areas included:
- Stylized yet realistic wooden structure with reinforced metal framing
- High-quality PBR materials (gold, wood, aged metal, and wear effects)
- Detailed engravings and ornamental design elements
- Strong visual contrast to enhance readability in-game environments
- Optimization for performance in real-time engines
Additional attention was given to surface aging and wear, helping the asset feel grounded and integrated into a lived-in game world.
Usage & Application
The 3D treasure chest asset was designed for integration into:
